About Arlington County Detention Facility

The Arlington County Detention Facility in Arlington, Virginia, is widely considered to be one of the most technically advanced detention centers in the country. This facility is operated by the Arlington County Sheriff's Office and is located in a state of the art urban high rise building. This was the first urban jail in the state to be run under the principals of direct supervision. According to the facility staff this location is visited regularly from corrections officials from around the globe hoping to learn from their procedures and techniques. The trained staff effectively manage an average daily inmate population of 625 inmates.

Additional weekend visits are held on Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm in the day and from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm in the evening. Inmates are allowed to make outgoing phone calls from the facility, but are required to open a prepaid collect calling account prior to phone privileges being allowed.
