About Kalamazoo County Jail
As of 2012 the jail is operated by Captain Thomas Shull. The jail houses roughly 400 inmates at a time, which means its current 268 bed is far beyond capacity. Jail staff will be adding 200 to 250 beds to cope with the conditions. The jail offers programs including: education, rehab, health care, religous services, and public works projects. Most recently the jail added dental care to its inmate services.
Visitation at the jail is allowed from Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
Visitors are required to schedule their visits, sign in 20 minutes prior to the visit, and must have a valid ID.
