Genesee County Jail Facility
The jail opened in 1988 and houses 580 prisoners daily (over 13,000 annually). The Genesse facility has a staff of 150 corrections officers, 20 support personnel and various volunteers. It's annually operating budget is 12 million dollars. The jail was constructed after inmates filed a class action law suit against the jail citing poor living conditions. Even though the new jail is larger than its predacessor - this has still not solved rampant overcrowding at Genesse County Jail.
