The Dickinson County Jail is located in Iron Mountain, Michigan. The Dickinson County Courthouse and Jail complex was built in the Romanesque style with rock faced red bricks and trimmed with sandstone in 1896. In 1980, this complex was added to the National Register of Historic Buildings. In 1997, the existing jail structure was remodeled and expanded to house 71 inmates.
Dickinson County Jail has numerous Inmate Programs that encourage the betterment of the prisoner's mind, body and spirit such as Jail Ministries, Bible Studies, Alcoholic Anonymous, General Education Degree, and Mental Health counseling.
Inmates at Dickinson County Jail have 3 modes of communication with the friends and family - Visitors, Telephone Calls, and Mail. Family and friends can visit on Saturday or Sunday for 30 minutes, by appointment. Each inmate can have 2 visits per weekend between 9 and 11:30 in the morning, 12:30 pm to 5:00 pm, and 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. Inmates can make calls daily between 7:00 am and 10:00 pm. Inmates are allowed to receive letters and postcards sent through the United States Postal Services to P.O. Box 609, Iron Mountain, MI 49801.
Dickinson County Jail has also started a new and innovative way to communicate with family and friends called ‘Email Privileges'. Inmates can earn the privilege of sending 7 emails per week.
