Delta County Jail
The Delta County Jail Facility is located in Escanaba, Michigan. The jail dates back to the 1800's. The original jail was a simple two-story brick building that was situated at the juncture of South 5th Street, Escanaba and First Avenue South. In 1886, a new jail replaced the existing structure, which was condemned in the early 1960s by the Department of Corrections. By 1964, Delta County had a new, modern jail that could house 41 inmates. In 1999, the jail was expanded to house 85 inmates. This facility is operated under the supervision of Lt. Jason Thibeault, and 12 full time correction officers.
The Delta County Jail Facility has 3 Inmate Programs that encourages inmates to become productive citizens on their release - the School Release Program, the Work Release Program, and the Work Van Inmate Program.
The Delta County Jail Facility has a strict visiting policy. Each inmate is allowed only four visitors, at a time, once a week between 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Schedule visits for male inmates on - Monday, Wednesday, or Friday, and female inmates on Tuesday or Thursday. Duration of each visit is 15 minutes, and the visitor must have a valid State ID. Inmates are also allowed visits from clergy on Tuesday & Thursday from 8:00 am to 11:30 am.
