Cheboygan County Jail
Cheboygan County Jail is located in Cheboygan, Michigan. The first jail that was created in 1855 was connected with the Court House frame. The present facility, which is the fifth, was finished in 1968, and was built as a part of the Cheboygan County Building. Currently it has an 80-bed capacity, which initially housed only 21 beds. It detains both male and female offenders. Half of its beds are occupied by local inmates, while the rest are rent out to out-county offenders to cover the costs of running the facility and also to generate revenue.
Inmates can be visited on Sundays and Wednesdays from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm. Each inmate can have one half-hour visit per day. Visitors must either be over 17-years or come with an adult. All visitors must present valid identification, and be in proper dress code. If the visitor is a former inmate, then that visitor must have been released no less than 90 days before he comes to visit another inmate.
Money can be given to the inmates during a visit, or sent through the US Mail. Other items that can be given to inmates during a visit are white socks and white underwear. Inmates can be contacted via mail, but all such mail will be checked for contraband before being handed over to an inmate. Other details can be found here.
