The Harford County Detention Center is a long term holding facility for inmates in Harford County, Maryland who are awaiting trial or serving out a sentence. The detention center initially opened in 1973 with a capacity for 100 inmates. After several renovations it is at its current capacity of 762 inmates. The Harford County Detention Center is only open for inmate visitation on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. Visiting times and days will be determined by inmate location and security status. Inmates are only allowed one visit per week with a maximum of 2 adult visitors per visit. The detention center also allows inmates to receive mailed letters with some restrictions. All mail is opened and screened for contraband and must be properly labeled and addressed to the individual receiving it. Inmates can only receive letters, no large packages.
