The Kern County Jail is operated by the oldest law enforcement agency in California, the Kern County Sheriff's Office. The County Jail is considered the Central Receiving Facility for inmates being incarcerated in Kern County California. Inmate Services

At the Kern County Jail the general public is allowed to visit inmates according to jail restrictions, leave money for inmates, and pick up money and property for inmates who are being transferred to long-term facilities. All inmates at the facility are allowed two 30 minute visits per week. All visitors will be required to present proper identification. Visiting hours are open only on Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. Money can be deposited for inmates in person or by mail, and are accepted as cash, money order or cashier's check. Once payments are accepted they will be immediately placed in the inmates commissary account. Personal checks cannot be accepted and will be returned to the sender.
