Visitation Guidelines

You can visit inmates of Jefferson County Jail if you are 16 years or older.  Those under 16 must come under adult supervision. Visitation hours are from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Inmate visitation days are broken down by the inmates first initial of their last name.

  • D - F: Tuesday
  • H - L: Wednesday
  • M - Q: Thursday
  • R - T: Friday
  • U - Z: Saturday
For instance, if the inmates name is Jane Doe, you would be able to visit her on Tuesday since the first initial of her last name is "D."

Bail Bond Policy was unable to find specific do's and dont's for visiting inmates. Most county jails stipulate that visitors may not be intoxicated, must be dressed appropriately, not bring weapons or other contraband, and no electronic devices. Please consult the jail staff for specific guidelines before visiting an inmate.

 

Sending Mail

Inmates can receive mail. As in most county jail some stipulations on contrabond exist. Typically you'll want to just have a letter typed or in blue and black ink containing nothing else.

 

Bail Bonds

Posting bail can be done through a cash bond, a property bond, or through a bonding agency via a standard surety bond. Prior to attempting to post bail be sure to check if the inmate is eligible for pretrial release. To do this contact the Pre-Trial Release Office (205) 325-5716.

Health Care

Jefferson County Jail contracts out its healthcare to a third party company. If you have concerns about an inmates health care please contact the Jail's healthcare staff at 205-325-5670. At this time Bail Bond Policy has been unable to verify whether Jefferson County Jail has NCCHC accreditation.

There have been reports of a toilet paper shortage at the jail and reports of overcrowding in the jail. As of this writing jail healthcare is provided by Health Assurance LLP. Reports of overbilling by the contractor exist.

 

Sending Money

You can leave money for inmates of the Jefferson County Jail.

  • Money Order: Leave your money order at the drop box located in the lobby of the inmates jail facility. The envolope containing the money order must have the name of the inmate, the name of the sender (your name), the amount contained on the money order, and the inmates ID number.
  • If its a Western Union Money Order use the following information: Pay to: SSC, Code City/State: COBRACASH/FL, Account Number: BHM & Inmate’s JCID Number & Inmate’s Last Name.
  • To make deposits to an inmates commissary via debit or credit card call 888-277-2535. Service fees may apply. You will need: Pay Location Code: 5500, Facility Code: BHM, Inmate Name, Inmate JCID Number.
  • You can also apply cash directly to the inmates account via a kiosk located in the lobby of the jail.
